Glass Balustrade TK GLASS

BALUSTRADES.

Choosing the right balustrade depends on your personal preference and specific needs. If you have a beautiful view, glass balustrades are ideal, as they maintain an unobstructed sightline while providing safety.

The increasing availability of toughened safety glass has made aluminium post and glass balustrades competitively priced with traditional aluminium post and rail systems, which were previously more affordable. With a slim, minimalist handrail, these glass panel balustrades are a popular choice among customers.

Aluminium baluster balustrades remain a solid option, especially since they can be finished in powder coat colors to match your home’s design. They are low-maintenance, requiring only periodic washing with soapy water, making them easy to care for alongside regular window cleaning.

For the ultimate in unobstructed views, frameless glass balustrades feature clear toughened safety panels secured with various aluminium fittings. However, they require thicker glass, making them a premium and costlier option.

Some customers opt for a combination of styles, such as using frameless glass balustrades where views are paramount and aluminium post and glass systems in less critical areas.

Glass Selection

Choose from 3 different options for your glass balustrades

  • Toughened glass is up to five times stronger than standard annealed glass, allowing it to break into dull, safer edges. When using toughened glass for your balustrade, New Zealand standards require the addition of a handrail or top-capping system to ensure that surrounding glass panels remain secure in the unlikely event of breakage.

  • Toughened laminated glass is a safe and reliable choice for homeowners, as it ensures the glass remains bonded even if it breaks. According to current New Zealand standards, an interlinking clamp is required when using EVA laminated glass for balustrades to enhance stability and safety.

  • SentryGlas™ balustrades are the only type that can be installed in a fully frameless design. This is due to the unique interlayer in the glass, which is 100 times stronger and 5 times stiffer than conventional laminates. As a result, deflection is minimized, even in the unlikely event of the glass breaking, ensuring maximum safety and stability.
